Advising
Dr. Fey is a well-known and respected co-author of the Top 100 book on Morgan silver dollars. He is also a professional numismatist and member of more than a dozen specialty numismatic organizations, and maintains professional contacts with experts in nearly every numismatic pursuit. He is equally well versed on Canadian, Philippines, and Mexican issues. He can advise on all aspects of numismatics from planning, developing, and acquiring a superior numismatic portfolio to proper storage, conservation, certification and display of your coins. He can also advise on the best exit strategies for liquidating coins and or collections for you or your heirs when it comes time to sell. However, no one person can be an expert in all numismatic fields. Therefore, he relies on the relationships built with other noted experts in their numismatic specialties. As an RCI client, there is normally no fee charged for this advice in day-to-day communications. However, should more extensive advising be necessary, there would be an hourly or daily fee incurred to include any out-of-pocket expenses as dictated by the wants, needs, and demands of time by the client.

Appraisals
Dr. Fey performs three types of numismatic appraisal.
- Informal Appraisal- This type of appraisal is for smaller, low value collections and for more common coins, accumulations and collections. The seller is motivated to sell their holdings, and is typically not willing to pay for a full written appraisal for a future sale or for insurance purposes. There is usually no cost for this type of appraisal. Dr. Fey would be willing travel within the local New Jersey area.
-
Formal Appraisal- This type of formal written appraisal is for larger, more substantial numismatic holdings either locally or nationally where a detailed written appraisal of the estimated sales value of the collection is given. This is what a seller can expect to get when bringing their collection to a dealer or to the coin market. There is a charge of $50 per hour plus out-of-pocket expenses for this type appraisal.
- Formal Appraisal of Replacement Value-This type of formal written appraisal is for insurance purposes and represents an estimate of what the seller would have spend at retail to replace the collection. It may be used to give to the insurance company upon loss of a collection to establish value for the collection. There is a charge of $50 per hour plus out-of-pocket expenses for this type appraisal.
