Appraisals
Dr. Fey performs three types of numismatic appraisal.
- Informal Appraisal- This type of appraisal is for smaller, low value collections and for more common coins, accumulations and collections. The seller is motivated to sell their holdings, and is typically not willing to pay for a full written appraisal for a future sale or for insurance purposes. There is usually no cost for this type of appraisal. Dr. Fey would be willing travel within the local New Jersey area.

Formal Appraisal- This type of formal written appraisal is for larger, more substantial numismatic holdings either locally or nationally where a detailed written appraisal of the estimated sales value of the collection is given. This is what a seller can expect to get when bringing their collection to a dealer or to the coin market. There is a charge of $50 per hour plus out-of-pocket expenses for this type appraisal.
- Formal Appraisal of Replacement Value-This type of formal written appraisal is for insurance purposes and represents an estimate of what the seller would have spend at retail to replace the collection. It may be used to give to the insurance company upon loss of a collection to establish value for the collection. There is a charge of $50 per hour plus out-of-pocket expenses for this type appraisal.
